The Blessing of Obedience
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."
— James 1:22 (ESV)
When it comes to faith, hearing the Word is just the beginning—true transformation happens when we live it out. Obedience to God is not about following rules for the sake of it, but about aligning our hearts with His will. When we listen to His voice and walk in His ways, we experience the peace and purpose He has for us. On the other hand, when we only listen but fail to act, we deceive ourselves into thinking we are growing spiritually when we are actually standing still.
Throughout the Bible, we see the contrast between those who obeyed God and those who didn’t. When the Israelites followed God’s commands, they prospered and were protected, but when they turned away, they faced struggles and consequences. The same principle applies today. Disobedience can lead us into unnecessary hardship, but obedience leads to blessings, even when we don’t immediately see the results. Walking in obedience may not always be easy, but it always draws us closer to God’s heart.
Obedience is a daily choice. It’s in the small moments—choosing kindness when it’s easier to be harsh, trusting God’s plan when we’d rather take control, and standing firm in faith even when doubts creep in. God doesn’t expect perfection, but He does call us to pursue Him with a willing heart. As we take steps of obedience, we’ll find that His grace sustains us, His wisdom guides us, and His blessings follow.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to not just hear Your Word but to live it out daily. Give me the courage to obey even when it’s hard and the wisdom to follow Your guidance. Strengthen my faith so that my actions reflect my love for You. Teach me to trust in Your ways over my own and walk in obedience each day. Amen.

My sweet wife is with Jesus now. I yearn to be with her and Jesus soon. I would always tell her I did not like the phrase..Know Jesus know peace…No Jesus no peace because of my rebellious daughter A.R. Even though I do know Jesus I have no peace. I compare my life to a fraction of Job’s life. I am not perfect but I do try to follow God’s rules and , although my daughter has free will, I pray for God to please put a good Christian man in her life. I will keep praying this but I am discouraged. After 20 years of rebellion I am so tired. Trying to be strong for 20 years will wear you out. Please help me Jesus.
