The Joy of Giving - Acts 20:35

"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’"

— Acts 20:35

Our culture often tells us happiness comes from getting more — more success, more money, more things. But Jesus flips that on its head: the greatest blessing comes not in what we gather, but in what we give.

Giving isn’t just about money. It’s about living with open hands — our time, encouragement, attention, kindness, and resources. When we give, something changes inside us. We loosen the grip of selfishness and make room for God’s joy to flow through us.

Paul reminds us in Acts that even in his hard work, he modeled generosity, especially toward those in need. That’s the kind of life Christ calls us to: not one of constant striving to hold onto everything, but of freely pouring out what we’ve been given.

This week, remember that generosity is contagious. Your giving — no matter how small — may become the very thing that lifts someone else’s spirit. And in turn, you’ll discover a deeper joy than anything this world could offer.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for every gift You’ve given me — my time, my abilities, my resources, and my relationships. Help me to give freely this week, with a cheerful heart. Let my generosity reflect Your love, and may I find joy in blessing others. Amen.

I find myself at peace the most when I am serving or giving myself to others for Christ.

Hey guys.
I just wanted to thank you for this verse, especially when it says about the giving money. I use to feel bad that I couldn’t, I pray that one day I can. One of my hobbies is I love to crochet as well as boxing lol. I enjoy being creative and I’m hoping to crochet christmas decorations for warm space ( feeding the community) were as before I didn’t think much of the gifts and talents Gid had blessed me.
All the best pj

For many, many years my daughter A.R. and I were broke due to my having to pay attorneys ( family court ) just to keep my girl at home away from a very bad mom. God blessed us very much in many different ways during that time but I also remember many times when someone would say something like " God will provide " or " these hard times will bring you closer together " rather than helping with a few dollars. Talk is cheap. If you know someone who is going through hard times give them a few dollars. Too often “church people” don’t want to help but try to say something “godly” to make themselves look good. Also, please pray for God/Jesus/and the Holy Spirit to send my girl a good Christian man.

Generosity allows us to see the beauty of our gifts and how we can help change the lives of others with our talents and love. True joy comes from when we serve those in need by giving of ourselves and our talents to those who need to feel our love. We are called to bring the image of Christs love to every person who we encounter on our life paths in every moment.
