Unshakable Foundations: Matthew 7:24-25

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.”

Matthew 7:24-25

Storms are not an "if" in the Christian life; they are a "when."

In this passage, Jesus doesn't differentiate the wise man from the foolish man by the weather they face. Both houses experienced the same falling rain, the same rising floods, and the same beating winds. The difference wasn't the intensity of the trial; it was the integrity of the foundation.

Today, it’s easy to build a life on the shifting sands of external validation, physical comfort, or personal success. These things feel sturdy when the sun is shining. But sand cannot hold weight when the pressure rises. When the diagnosis comes, when the relationship fractures, or when the career path crumbles, sand gives way.

True strength is found in what lies beneath the surface.

Building on "the Rock" isn't just about hearing the Word; it's about the grit of obedience. It’s the daily, often quiet discipline of choosing God's truth over our feelings. It’s the decision to stay anchored in His promises when the wind is howling so loud you can’t hear anything else.

If you feel the ground shaking today, look at your feet. God isn't asking you to stop the rain or hold back the flood. He is inviting you to dig deeper into Him. A life built on Christ doesn't mean you won't feel the storm; it means the storm cannot take you down.

What you build in the secret places of prayer and obedience is what will keep you standing when the world tries to sweep you away.

Prayer: Father, thank You for being the only foundation that never shifts. Forgive me for the times I have tried to build my security on things that cannot last. When the storms of life beat against me, help me to stand firm not in my own power, but on the solid Rock of Your Word. Build in me a faith that is unshakable and a life that reflects Your endurance. Amen.

What a beautiful reminder! He is our rock! And there is no unrighteousness in him! Psalms 92: 13-15

My daughter A.R. and her husband built their relationship and house on sand. In no time it came crashing down. Now she is a bitter, hurt young lady. Please pray for God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit to put a good Christian man in her life. Thank you all for praying.

Established Work - Psalm 90:17
